I spent the morning working more on the development of the Hansen accession numbering and organization system. After learning that the numbers could be 12 digits rather than having to be set at 16 digits, I was able to modify the system in a way that felt less like I was forcing 16 digits where it wasn’t warranted, such as in the personal correspondence, which were already ordered chronologically but could also receive more letters out of sequence (1.5 hours),

Later, I worked on finalizing the text of the introduction for the St. John’s Church exhibit (1.5 hours). Knowing that space was limited and keeping in mind all that I had discussed with Dave the day before, I wanted to be able to economically mention how the AR system factored into the exhibit. Overall, I was largely satisfied with how it turned out.

Finally, Dave and I met to go over some last-minute things, including finalizing the decisions about the Hansen numbering system (1 hour) and to prepare for the oral history interview with Fr. Greg Carlson. We discussed how to go about asking questions that would elicit the kind of answers we wanted -- i.e. longer-form answers without unnecessary “Yes” or “No” answers at the beginning of them. From my own work with transcripts, I knew I would likely need to be prepared to gently interrupt to clarify what object we were talking about, so we discussed plans for how to prepare Fr. Carlson for those interruptions and how to do them as unobtrusively as possible. Finally, Dave showed me how to use the recording equipment and how to download the audio files from the SD card (1.5 hours).
