In the morning, I continued working on the labels for the SJC exhibit, which involved creating the individual labels for the second half of the artifacts and refining the label text to make better use of the small amount of space. (2 hours)
Later, I went to the Rare Books Room with Dave and Olivia to receive a professor for a reference appointment. She was planning for a course and wanted to know what books, particularly science-related texts, were available in the Rare Books Room that she would be able to highlight if and when she brought her class to visit the room. Prior to the meeting, Dave, Olivia, and I pulled several books that we thought might interest her, such as several texts by Athanasius Kircher from the 17th-18th centuries. During the appointment, I helped locate and provide more books according to the interests of the professor and setting out the books with book cushions and other supports. After the meeting, Olivia and I returned the books to their shelves, referencing a guide created to house similarly sized books together to prevent further warping of the covers. (3 hours)
After the meeting, Dave and I brainstormed some ideas for a new department logo that reflected the addition of the CDR to the Archives and Special Collections department. We created some mock-ups of the logo in Photoshop, which I pulled from a Creighton-related object in one of the special collections. (1 hour)
